I believe in treating others with kindness and compassion - this includes ourselves. Healthy eating and clean living is a process -there’s no start and end date. It requires equal parts effort, determination and kindness. It’s not a linear journey, it will absolutely have peaks and valleys - this is OK

I believe that it’s my job to cheer you on, to remind you to show yourself that kindness and compassion as you work towards feeling and looking your best.

We shouldn’t have to spend more time in the mirror concealing yet another zit, or forced to unbutton the top of our pants after a meal. We shouldn’t be run down or feel like we’re energetically depleted each day. I believe that by sharing my knowledge and expertise in this field I can help you achieve your health and wellness goals.

I believe that eating food should be a positive experience. Food should smell, look & taste good. But I also believe it should leave us feeling good. We should get excited about what we eat. I believe that by sharing delicious, simple & nutritious recipes I can inspire, motivate and guide more women to feel and look the way they deserve!

Healthy eating isn’t about counting calories or limiting ourselves to tasteless, cardboard-like food,
where’s the joy in that?!

I believe that more women should embrace a holistic lifestyle change: real, whole foods, clean skincare products, more daily movement, quality sleep
and oodles of self-care.
It’s not new age crap (whatever that is). It’s not selfish.
It’s preservation and prevention.

I know that social media can make it seem like everyone has their shit together, all day/everyday and that can lead to an all or nothing mindset when we consider making healthy changes. Remember, no one is going to take pictures of the bad days. All it takes is one small change a week. That's it. The smallest shifts can have the biggest impact.

HONESTY - BLOG.jpg

I value honesty

I value honesty in all aspects of my life and that’s what I’ll offer you. You’ll never hear me say that healthy living is easy because it’s not. It takes real effort and work. It’s a choice you will most likely have to make everyday.

I value fun

Life’s way too short not to have fun. Yes, I eat a lot of leafy greens and veggies but guess what?! I also eat a lot of pizza, pasta and chocolate! Stick with me and I’ll show you that healthy eating CAN be fun!

I value Integrity

I’ll never suggest you do or try something that I myself have never tried or done before. Everything I recommend is something that I genuinely stand behind.

I value Passion

I feel inspired when I’m surrounded by passionate people. And that’s what I aspire to offer you - inspiration through my passion for this field. I love what I do. Everyday I’m grateful to do this work and to help people like you.

I also value Imperfection

Because no one is perfect all of the time. I’m not perfect and I certainly don’t expect my clients to be.

"Imperfections are not inadequacies; they are reminders that we are all in this together." - Brené Brown

My life isn’t always smoothies, sunshine and lemon water BUT I’m aware that every day, every meal and every snack is a new opportunity to choose better.

A Little Bit More About Valerie

My last name is Piccitto, pronounced Pi-cheat-toe - there’s no denying I was born and raised in an all Italian familia! So, trust me when I say I know GOOD food! I’m a registered holistic nutritionist, culinary nutrition expert, fur mamma and self-proclaimed foodie.

In the last 4 years I’ve built a successful nutrition practice both online and off, worked with hundreds of women to help them achieve their health and wellness goals and developed a number of signature programs, wellness plans, custom meal plans & detoxes.

So, what led me here? Believe it or not, a movie! I had an eye-opening moment that propelled me into this field when I watched a documentary called Food Inc. If you haven’t seen - add it to your list!
I watched , I cried, I was reeling! It made me question everything about food. Soon thereafter, I booked an appointment with a holistic nutritionist. I knew I needed to learn more about the food I was eating. From there, I was like a sponge, absorbing as much information as I could which led me to enrol into the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. And that’s how I became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist.

I later enrolled at the Academy of Culinary Nutrition. It’s here that I took my business (and love of food) to the next level and enhanced my prior professional training. I wanted to be able to teach my clients about the therapeutic properties of food but more importantly I wanted to teach them how they could apply that knowledge to their everyday cooking in their own kitchens.

Before my professional training I struggled with what most teenage girls do - acne and painful periods. I was on medication for both. I spent years struggling with my skin and periods. I’ve spent even more since then trying to rebalance my system and reestablish a natural organic rhythm.

Growing up I was the type of kid who was always sick. This continued on until early adulthood. I got sick like it was my job! My immune system was weak and and my diet wasn’t balanced. I pretty much ate like crap and it really showed. Seasonal allergies - - - oof! I was the poster girl for it. My flare ups would get so bad that I would miss social events and be bed-ridden.

Like most girls (and women), I yearned for a flatter, tighter, more toned tummy. As a teenager I would skip meals in hopes of shedding a few LBS. Of course this only led to ravenous hunger and eventual binge eating. Eventually, I took to a much healthier approach - exercise. But to my dismay, there was no shift in my appearance. It took me years to realize that I was still missing a key component - healthy eating. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying that abs are made in the kitchen - my younger self must have missed that memo!

I’ve spent years and a lot of money seeing various practitioners, cleaning up my diet, taking supplements and trying other health products all in an attempt to resolve my personal struggles. It’s led to an obsession for clean skincare, an ever-evolving mastery of my hormones, a stronger immune system, a jaw-dropping reduction in allergy symptoms, the know-how to properly tighten and tone my body and a great understanding of what it takes to heal digestive issues.

The most important thing my struggles have led to is a great desire to help other women achieve their health goals with less struggle.
I want to help young girls avoid the same mistakes that I made. And I want to educate and inspire all women by sharing the failures and successes I’ve had over the past few years.
We only have one body and one lifetime - we deserve to feel beautiful and balanced.

I believe that eating healthy can still be tasty and delicious
I believe that we all need to learn how to quiet our inner mean girl
I believe you deserve to look & feel beautiful
