I remember really enjoying a cold glass of chocolate milk when I was younger and wanted to replicate that! This variation is SIGNIFICANTLY better for you than conventional chocolate milk. For starters, it's a dairy alternative and will not create inflammation in the body but it's also free of immune suppressing refined sugars and any other gunk that's in the other stuff.
And for the ladies, when you're premenstrual, this will be your go-to! Thanks to the raw cacao it's magnesium rich which will work to alleviate some of your symptoms such as cramping. As if that weren't reason enough, raw cacao is a good source of iron, fibre and antioxidants (great for skin health!).
So, sip on my friend (guilt-free!)...
Chocolate Almond Milk
3 cups almond milk
3 heaping tbsp raw cacao
1/4 tsp vanilla powder (alternatively you can use 1/2 tsp vanilla extract)
maple syrup to taste (I used 2 tbsp)
pinch of sea salt (to balance out the flavours)
Blend for 30-60 seconds until well combined and frothy!
Enjoy immediately or store in a mason jar refrigerated for 3-4 days. It won't last that long - promise :)
